Patsy Sue Scarborough passed away peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on the evening of January 3, 2024, at the age of 90. Her life on earth was characterized with a servant's heart, love for family, and faithfulness to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Patsy was born on July 27, 1933 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Grady Henry Hill and Jewel Leon Chaddick Hill. Patsy had 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Patsy and her family moved to Plano, Texas where she graduated from Plano High School. She gave her heart to Jesus Christ as a teenager. She came to Dallas where she went to work for Sears Roebuck & Co. after high school. There she would meet her handsome husband Windol Scarborough. They were married on December 8, 1950.
She retired after 26 years of service with Sears. She began a new adventure in advertising with various agencies until she met and went to work for Allen Rosenberg. She then retired after 25 years of service as a personal administrative assistant to Allen and Betty Rosenberg.
She would stay busy during retirement traveling with Windol across the country visiting as many states as they could until Windol’s passing in May of 2005. Then she re-entered the workforce one final time. She worked until the age of 84 as an Administrative Assistant at J.P. Valve Company before finally handing in her notepad and pen.
Even though she was fully retired she didn’t stop working. The remainder of her life she served almost daily in the Lord’s house seeking out opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ. Her volunteering opportunities included the music ministry, missions ministry, hospitality ministry, senior adult ministry, organizing blood drives, organizing many meals for the church while helping gather school supplies for Lancaster I.S.D. All while sharing the Good News of Jesus to anyone who would listen.
Patsy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lancaster, Texas since 1983. Prior to that, she and her husband were faithful members of Danieldale Baptist Church in Dallas,Texas for about 30 years. She spent those 52 years serving as a Youth Department Leader. She had a real passion for young people and was the happiest when they were gathered at her home. She also served on many committees and in other roles as needed.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents Grady and Jewel Hill, husband Windol Scarborough, son Gerald Scarborough, sisters Evelyn, Clara, Daphne, brothers Clarence, Jack, and Jim.
Patsy is survived by her son Dennis Scarborough and his wife Heather. Three grandsons Matthew Scarborough and his wife Erin, Steve Scarborough and his wife Kristina and Austin. Five great grandchildren Kory, Grady, Sawyer, Lincoln and Miller. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Scarborough, her brother-in-law Robert Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.
