Pat was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a retired administrative assistant who worked for almost 35 years in the legal and healthcare industries. The professional part of her vocation included 23 years of service at Presbyterian Hospital, now Texas Health Resources (THR), and almost 6 years assisting others at the Visiting Nursing Association (VNA).
At work, Ambulatory PHD C.O.O., Kathi Cox put it best when she said, “Pat has always been honest, organized, positive, and a wonderful resource.”
Yet Pat’s true vocation of wife, mother, and parishioner (53 years of active service to her parish family of St. Pius X) far eclipses this professional life of character and virtue.
Shortly after graduation from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic high school in Cleveland, OH, Pat attended Draughon Business school in Dallas, TX. Her first job after secretary school was as a legal secretary for a lawyer, Mr. Melton. Later, at a Newman Club meeting, she met the love of her life, Ray Syblik.
After dating for some time, the couple fell in love and were married on August 23, 1969. Pat was a loving wife and stay-at-home mom to her three boys until 1986. That’s when she added working mom to her list of active roles.
In 1998, Pat added daughter-in-law consulting services. And in 2003, Pat happily tacked on grandma sitting (with no appointment necessary) to her personal resume.
In 2014, Pat opened a new chapter of her life, retirement. As Pat wrote on her social media profile, she continued with her church committee involvement, but added, “Water Aerobics, Silver Sneakers classes, visiting friends, gardening, traveling, enjoying the neighborhood activities, and life in general.”
Her most prized activity in her late years was spending time with her family i.e., grandkids, reading, and literally putting into action everything she learned from HGTV and the Cooking channel with tremendous efficiency.
Pat is survived by her husband Ray Syblik; her sister Mary Lou Furry, of Plano, TX; sons, Ron Syblik of Mesquite, TX, Jeff Syblik of Forney, TX, and Martin Syblik of Sunnyvale, TX, her daughters-in-law; Karen Syblik of Mesquite, TX, Jennifer Syblik of Forney, TX, and Rachel Syblik of Sunnyvale, TX, her grandsons; C.J. & Bobby Syblik of Mesquite, TX, Joshua Syblik of Forney, TX, Matthew Syblik of Sunnyvale, TX, and her long awaited granddaughter, the baby girl she always wanted, Madeline Syblik of Sunnyvale, TX.
Pat, we pray, now lies in the arms of her loving, savior, Jesus Christ in the company of all his angels and saints. She was a kind, selfless person who never said, I’m too busy to help or listen. In fact, near the end of her life, Pat talked to a half dozen people at a minimum each day.
And for that and more, she will be forever missed by so many that loved and adored her.
