Patricia “Pat” Moseley Smith was born on June 16, 1934 in Quanah, Texas to Clarence Hilary Moseley and Rosemary Langsworth Moseley. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1955 with a B.A. in Fine Arts. While at Texas, she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. She and Murray married in 1956 at Cox Chapel in Dallas. Pat enjoyed a career as a fashion illustrator for the Fair Department Store in Fort Worth and later with A. Harris & Company in Dallas. Her art was featured in print ads in area newspapers. Pat was an accomplished oil painter and her children's portraits and florals grace the homes of many friends and family members. Her true passion in life was her family and friends. She served on the boards of both the Dallas Junior League and the Dallas Women’s Club. She also enjoyed singing, sailing, camping, and handbells, all with her family. She started the handbell choir at the Church of the Incarnation in Dallas and procured bells from the White Chapel Foundry in England. She is remembered as a dedicated mother and wife who adored her Lord Jesus.
Pat died peacefully on September 8, 2017, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 83. Pat is survived by her husband, J. Murray Smith, who resides in Highland Park, Texas, by her five children: J. Murray Smith Jr., Hilary Hale, Patrick Smith, Douglas Smith, Claude Smith and seven grandchildren.
Pat was interred in Oakwood Cemetery Annex at a private burial in Austin, Texas on September 12, 2017. A memorial service and reception was held on Thursday, Oct. 5 at St. Francis Anglican Church in Dallas. Fr. Timothy Matkin, Fr. John Jordan and Fr. Terry Jordan officiated the ceremony.
