Patricia passed away peacefully on October 14th at the age of 97 surrounded by her cherished family. Patricia was born in Dallas on January 14th, 1925, to Lloyd & Lois Darwin. She attended North Dallas High School & graduated from Baylor School of Nursing.
She is preceded in death by her husband James O’Connor, Jr.
Patricia is survived by her son, James O’Connor, daughter Anne Kennedy, son-in-law Michael Kennedy, sister-in-law Patricia Tobin O’Connor and dear friend Nancy Hunter, both of Corvallis, Oregon, nephew Manson Jones and wife Nora, nephew Brian Jones of Nashville, TN… and her greatest joys, granddaughters Sarah and Katie Kennedy.
Patricia took great pleasure and pride in the accomplishments of her family and supported them selflessly in every endeavor. Her open and positive spirit made her a friend to everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful cook and baker, she will be remembered for her famous “lake cake”, which many described “as the best dessert they had ever eaten,” as well as her mouthwatering potato salad, which no one could resist, or to this day been able to duplicate…her granddaughter’s said it was because Grammie put so much love into it!
In earlier years, she loved walking the aisles of her favorite stores, greeting all the staff by name and ALWAYS spending time with her family. She was a voracious reader and would spends hours reading and re-reading Agatha Christie mysteries and the Lillian Jackson Braun “Cat Who” books.
Patricia was a strong, kind, generous, thoughtful and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will live on in our hearts forever and we celebrate her reunion with her beloved husband and other family members who have gone before her. A special thanks to Yodit and Fungai her constant and wonderful caregivers of the last 15 months.
