Patricia Podesta Crumley

Patricia Ann Podesta Crumley, born August 3rd, 1943, to Cecilia and Joseph J. Podesta, MD of Cincinnati, OH, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022, surrounded by her family. Patti loved the Cincinnati area, going on many house calls with her father, attending Ursuline Academy of Cincinnati before moving to South Bend, IN, to attend Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition & Dietetics. Patti was a dietetic intern at The University of Michigan- University Hospital, where she met her future husband, Frank Crumley. Patti and Frank were married September 2, 1967, before moving to Augusta, GA where Frank was stationed at Fort Gordon as a practicing physician and where their first son, Joe, was born. The family eventually settled in Dallas, TX where Patti and Frank welcomed their second son, John Patrick. Patti worked as a registered dietician at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas for several years before turning to volunteer work at Baylor Hospital of Dallas in pre operation. Her love of learning continued as she earned a master’s in liberal arts from SMU. She was an active member of the Dallas chapter of The League of Women Voters as well as held many volunteer roles at Jesuit College Prep, where both her sons attended. Patti was an avid reader, hosting a monthly book club and decorating her house to the theme of the book selection. She loved to travel, especially to Red River, NM and collecting original artwork at her every stop. Her grandchildren will always remember their fun, annual tradition of breaking apart the gingerbread house and eating it with their “Mimmie”.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia and Joseph Podesta, MD, and her brother, Jack Podesta of Cincinnati, OH. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Frank Edward Crumley, MD of Dallas; her devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Jennifer Crumley and John and Jules Crumley and her adoring “Grand-twins”, Jack and Georgia Crumley.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Manchester Care Homes St. Michaels for their loving care of Patti this past year.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church, Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 11am.
