Your bright and loving light has fortunately only moved to our permanent home. I miss your smile and still remember your voice,  especially on those holidays as we cooked the Lebanese food we all love. Do you remember showing me how to dry the washed lettuce? Squeeze it like a cloth! (LOL!)
I look forward to seeing you again… and as I continue to age, it won't be long at all!

 Aunt Patsy was an amazing person. As I read through the postings, I can see that we all have similar memories. I have the Happy Birthday recording saved on my phone too. In fact, I purposely didn’t answer once when she called on my birthday, secretly praying that she would leave a message. Of course she did :) I then called her right back, hoping she’d sing it again, but nope.. haha, she told me that was your chance, you missed it and now you’ll have to wait until next year. Thankfully I did have a couple of years after that to be serenaded again by my Aunt Patsy.

Growing up, one of my fondest memories was when Aunt Patsy and Uncle Bart would visit my grandparents (Chick and Margaret McKool) house when I was there. It was awesome, because Uncle Bart would always bring me records from someone in Nashville and Aunt Patsy would tell me about the recording of the songs.

She definitely had her food cravings and recently called my mother Melinda McKool Davis one morning and asked her to bring her a chocolate shake. My mom got out of bed and went to sonic to order a shake, well before it was even lunch, to take to Aunt Patsy. They sat outside, social  distancing as that was the only way visitors were allowed, visited and Aunt Patsy had her shake.

I agree, Aunt Patsy was the center of the family and did keep everyone connected. I hope that we can carry that on. It’s important to know family and extended family, not just on a name basis. It would be important to her.

I love you and  miss you very much, Aunt Patsy. Till we meet again.

...Patsy worked for General American Oil for over 30 years in the historic Meadows Building in Dallas. During her time there, Patsy watched from the rooftopand witnessed a historic tornado tear its way through north Dallas in 1957. Patsy also was a lifelong member of the Southern Federation of Syrian-Lebanese Clubs and traveled to Lebanon twice in her lifetime, once with her mother Filomena in 1954 and for a final time in 2017.

The Church was a major part of Patsy's life and an organization in which she was always active and involved. Even as a young girl, she loved the community surrounding the Church. Some of her best memories include activities and services presided over by Father Jude and Father Redfern. Patsy attended St. Rita's Catholic Church for many years before her death, which was located just blocks from her home.

Patsy approached life with a keen sense of humor. Even in her last days, she would still spend her energy on a laugh, a witty joke and a smile. She loved many, and for that experience was all the richer a human being. Her love knew no bounds and her sincerity was as precious as it was true. In her last days, Patsy came to peace with her life and her calling to be with the angels. Even though she suffered in pain, she knew no fear for her destiny she already claimed as hers.

Patsy was a great woman of care and a grand teacher for us all. Her wisdom was age-old and her ability to share it with others irreplaceable. Her gift of gab knew how to calm an anxious soul and fill up the emptiest of hearts. The spirit embodied by Patsy McKool Barton represents the best of humanity. And each day in our own small ways, we can all strive to be a little more like the greatest aunt and relative we know and love, Patsy.

..Patsy was a devoted daughter to her dear mother Filomena and father Charles.  Her father was a restaurant owner and Patsy grew up spending time in her parents' well-known Dallas diners like The Echo Cafe, and The Educated Hamburger. Her mother Filomena spoke little English, but their bond brought them closer than any language ever could. Patsy kept very close with her mother throughout their lives. Patsy was central to the family and for decades helped organize Sunday afternoon dinners for the entire extended family.

Patsy was an integral member of the McKool family. She did everything from helping clients at Mike McKool Sr.'s law office to being a surrogate mother to Mike and Betty's four beautiful children, Mike, Jr., Mollie, Mitzi and Matt while Mike and Betty lived away from Dallas. She loved all her nieces and nephews from her great and vast extended family. Family was her life. It gave her a purpose for being and a purpose for celebrating the joys of every day. Because family was the very most important thing to Patsy.

Patsy's lifelong dedication as a daughter to her mother ended when Filomena went to be with the Lord and her husband Charles in 1980.

On October 9, 1975, Patsy married the love of her life Bart Barton. He was a man with a heart as big as Patsy's own. Bart was a devoted and dedicated husband, uncle and mentor to many of his family on both sides - to the Bartons and to the McKools. Patsy traveled often with Bart to Nashville assisting him in his work as a country music producer. It was in these times, and in the quiet moments that Patsy and Bart cherished time with their relatives and their siblings' budding and vibrant families. Patsy and Bart remained married for over 30 years until Bart's death in March 2006...

Obituary for Patsy McKool Barton ❤ 

Mary Patricia Ann "Patsy" McKool Barton was a light among angels.  Our beloved Patsy passed to the other side the morning of Friday, August 28, 2020.  

Patsy McKool was born on March 17, 1927 in Dallas, Texas, to Filomena Nasser Rohana and Kahlil 'Charles' Naumann Baaklini McKool of Lebanon.  Patsy grew up the sixth child in a Lebanese family of five boys which included her brothers George, Charles, Mike, Ferris, and Chick.  Patsy was a joyful child who absorbed her family's love of people. In her childhood, she lived at various homes and addresses throughout present day downtown Dallas. She frequently referred to the McKool residence on Young Street as her childhood home. In that time, Patsy was involved extensively in church and school activities. As a teenager, Patsy worked as one of the writers and editors for the 'Tech Talks' student newspaper at Dallas Crozier Tech High School.  She graduated in 1944 with her lifelong best friend Frances Ann Raney Godfrey Murrah. After the war in 1946, Patsy was instrumental in introducing her brother Mike McKool to the love of his life Betty Ann Raney.  At a Tech High football game, Mike remarked of the beauty of a young woman, and asked who it may be. Patsy and Frances could only laugh at the shock that the object of his affection was none other than Frances' little sister, Betty!  It remains a timeless story which Patsy loved to tell. Mike and Betty went on to build a relationship and family which remained for almost 60 years until the death of Mike in 2003....

    Patsy called me less than a week ago to check to see if I was safe from the fires burning in northern California. That was the person that Patsy was, always remembering your birthday and checking in on you. Speaking of birthday's, she would not just wish you a happy birthday but sing you a serenade, Patsy style! ( I still have a 3 minute recording on my voice mail, I told her I would send it in as an audition tape when she was ready to go on tour) Patsy was a lively, fun to be around, kind of gal. Many of the times that I visited my grandmother, "Cracker",  I would get the added bonus of Patsy being there and when these two get together the energy and mood would just skyrocket.  A fond memory I have is of the hilarious commentary from this comic duo while we were watching Judge Judy during one of my visits.  I regret not connecting with Patsy sooner and cherish the wonderful years when we got closer.  

 I do not know the kids pictured in the photo I posted (which was sent to me by mistake when Patsy was trying to find family pictures for my recent wedding) but is a fitting testament to how her company  was enjoyed by all, young and old.  Patsy was always there for you when you needed her and if she missed a phone call, you would always get one back.

 Patsy and I share a love of food and we would discuss recipes.  When it came to Mexican food, she loved those chicken enchiladas and so tonight  I am having them in her memory. Cheers Patsy! I look forward to seeing you again.

My uncle's sister, she was very special during my entire life. Always upbeat and positive, she lived her values. I still have her singing Happy Birthday to me on my phone! I really miss her!

Great Aunt Patsy was a force to be reckoned with, for sure! She was so lively and sharp- even until the very end. With a social life that equalled those in their 20’s, she never ceased to be on the move and making new friends.  

I will never forget the night I called her from New York with my 2 sisters and cousin Sam.  It was 1am and I was sure she was fast asleep; yet Patsy answered wide awake as she was in the middle of a social gathering.  We all had a good chuckle that night.  She told me about her weekly TaiChi and yoga classes she was taking- this always put a smile on my face as many 90+ year olds can barely stand, yet here is Aunt Patsy living her best life! 

Every year I looked forward to her birthday calls and to our annual outing to her favorite Mexican restaurant, Blue Goose.  Everyone there knew Patsy by name and already started her order of chicken enchiladas when they saw her walk in. She was truly loved by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. 

We love you, Aunt Patsy! Rest easy now, sweet soul. 

Condolences to the family of Patricia McKool Barton for your loss of  Pat.   As co-workers with Pat, we worked hard and had fun too.  A favorite memory is bowling together on the company bowling team.
Pat was a friend to all who knew her, quick to laugh and swift to offer a kind word when needed.  A great friend!  
Rest in eternal peace, Pat.  You have left the world a better place.
