Pamela Oswalt Clements

Pamela “Pam” Oswalt Clements, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away just one day shy of her 82nd birthday. Born on December 22, 1941, in Abilene, Texas, Pam was the daughter of Z Oswalt and Eugenia St. Clair Oswalt.

Pam graduated from Abilene High School in 1960 and was a natural cheerleader. She attended the University of Texas in Austin, pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma, and though she transferred after a year to nurture her adventurous spirit, she remained a devoted Longhorn at heart. While pursuing her education at various colleges, she spent a memorable semester in Hawaii with close Dallas friends, where she met the love of her life, Gerard H. “Jerry” Clements, who was stationed as a US Army Ranger. Following a brief courtship, they wed on June 27, 1963, celebrating 60 years of marriage and weathering life's ups and downs together, with Pam being Jerry's biggest supporter and best friend. They were blessed with four beautiful children.

Pam is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Jerry, and three children with their spouses: Cristin and Brad Miller of Houston, Texas; Stephen and Hope Clements of Dallas, Texas; and Jud and Helen Clements of Dallas, Texas. Pam “Mimi” cherished her grandchildren—Cole Miller, Carson Miller Cone (married to Luke Cone of Houston, Texas, and expecting the first great-grandchild Hensley Carlisle Cone in January 2024), Z Clements, Camden Miller, Hank Clements, Hallie Clements, Charlie Clements, and Sarah Cate Clements.

She is preceded in death by her father, Z Oswalt; mother, Eugenia Oswalt; her son, Sean Clements; her half-brother, Carlisle G. Whitten; and half-sister, St. Clair Whitten Ziegler.

Known as the life of the party, Pam exuded boundless energy, love, and unwavering optimism, maintaining a glass-half-full outlook on life until the end. She was exceptionally generous with her time, supporting family, friends, and various Catholic organizations. Pam's infectious smile and warm, inviting eyes were her trademark, and she delighted in hosting unforgettable family gatherings during the holidays, where love was shared through hugs and kisses. She will forever be everyone’s favorite cheerleader.

The family extends gratitude for the outpouring of love and support, especially acknowledging her attentive and compassionate caretakers Caroline, Sarah, Catherine, Seletha, and Cindy.

She was laid to rest on December 28, 2023 at Dallas National Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life scheduled on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, reception to follow in the St. Rita Commons.
