Oscar Ruben Andujo, MD of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, passed away on November 22, 2022, in Dallas, TX surrounded by his beloved family. He will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and colleague to all who knew and loved him.
Dr. Andujo was born on October 17, 1946 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Hortencia Gonzalez de Andujo y Oscar Andujo Baylon. Dr. Andujo is survived by his wife Blanca G. Andujo, daughter Bianca Andujo, son Oscar F. Andujo, daughter-in-law Barbara Gonzalez, and three granddaughters Sofia Gulberti, Valeria Andujo, and Victoria Andujo.
Dr. Andujo was raised in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was the oldest in a family of 7 (Enrique, Laura, Martha, Sergio, Javier, Susana), who he looked after and had a close relationship with until his passing. He moved to Mexico City to attend medical school graduating from the Escuela Medico Militar Universidad Del Ejercito Y Fuerza Aerea in 1970. During his years there, he met Blanca Garfias who he married in April of 1974. In 1998, he accomplished his dream of being a physician in the United States at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) as an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and moved his family to Dallas, TX permanently.
He had tremendous respect for his colleagues who he spent many days and nights with. He called them his second family and UTSW his second home. He practiced medicine until the age of 75 and loved every minute of it. Dr. Andujo was known to his colleagues, residents, and patients as a hardworking, compassionate, and caring physician. Outside of the operating room, his happiest moments were with his family. He loved spending time with his granddaughters who called him “Abu”.
A memorial service for Dr. Andujo will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 at 3:00 PM followed by a reception at 4:00pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
