Orvil Lee Jones Sr.

Born in Checotah, Oklahoma on July 20,1921 to James Arvil and Artie Mae Jordan Jones. Graduated from Union Grove High School in 1938. Married Joyce (Pat) Weaver on March 18,1939. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he served as claims manager for a major insurance corporation in San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas for 14 years, after which time became owner and operator of his own Independent claims service, the Jones Adjustment Co. Inc. for 23 successful years.

He was as 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Scottish Rite and Hella Temple

Shrine. He was owner and operator of the OLJ Simmental Cattle Ranch in Kaufman

County, Texas from 1961 to 2005, when health reasons forced the sale of the

ranch, and move to Dallas.

He was one of the co-founders of the Tri-County Simmental Association, a

Member of the American Simmental Association, Texas Simmental Association.

Also a member of the American Independent Adjusters Association, Texas

Independent Adjusters Association, and Dallas Claims Men’s Association.

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Joe Jones. Survived by

Pat, his beloved wife of 73 years; son Orvil L. Jones, Jr. and his wife Elaine of

Dallas; granddaughter Dina Jones Steele of Dallas; grandsons Damon Jones of Burbank,

California, and Dylan Jones and wife Carol of Austin, Texas; and great-grandchildren

Rodman and Faye Steele of Dallas.
