She retired after a lifetime of service to the United States government, beginning with the WWII Peace Talks in Vienna, Austria and concluding with service at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Brandt (Terry) of Dallas, Texas; son, Scott Stephens of Lexington, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Patrick Brandt (Natalie) of Dallas, Kristin Stovern (Troy) of Joplin, Missouri, Stephen Brandt (Kim) of Dallas, and Colleen and Ryan Stephens of Lexington; five great-grandchildren, Sam, Grayson, Gage, Dillon, and Maddie; sister, Dorothy Drew; and brother, William LaRue.
She was a loving, and loyal wife to H.W. “Steve” Stephens of 60 years. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her joy. She loved her friends, Beaver Lake, the University of Arkansas “Hogs”, and gardening.
A private committal service will be held at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Cremation arrangements are by Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home of Dallas, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or Habitat for Humanity.
