Norma Jean Smith

Her early years were idyllically spent surrounded by extended family in a semi-rural setting. Norma attended Pleasant Grove High School graduating in 1946 followed by taking a job at a downtown insurance company. In 1949, she married Wesley Smith and went on to have three daughters, Pam, Sally and Teri.

For the next several years while being a stay-at-home mom, she particularly enjoyed gardening and being actively involved in Christian Women's Fellowship and the Chancel Choir at Pleasant Grove Christian Church. In the 1970's, Norma returned to the workforce taking a job in the financial services department at Casa Linda Bank (later Texas Commerce Bank) from which she retired in 1992. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with her family as well as reading and gardening.

Norma was predeceased by her grandson Tyler Cates, her son-in-law Randy Rudisill and her sister Glenda Cooper.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam (Mike) Harrison, Sally Rudisill and Teri ( Sid) Cates; seven grandchildren, Christy (Chris) Choat, Jason (Laura) Cates, Ginger (Jason) Hatley, Holly (Ben) Adams, Cameron (Traci) Cates, Annie (Zander) Sorini, and Connor Cates; and seven great grandchildren, Cale, Luke and Allie Choat, Claire and Harrison Hatley, and Van and Gus Cates.

A visitation for Norma will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a committal to follow from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228.
