Nona R. King

Nona was born September 2, 1943 in Bunkie LA to parents James and Shirley Newman, and passed away December 15, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert King, and five siblings. Nona was raised in Dallas, where she attended O.M. Roberts, Long and W.W. Wilson schools. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and called Grandview Baptist her church home. Following high school, she worked at Texas Instruments for several years. She accepted a position at Digital Switch Corporation where she eventually promoted to executive secretary to the chairman for approximately 10 years. She then went to work and eventually retired from TxDot. Nona enjoyed participating in her church activities, serving on several committees, enjoyed working in her yard, but she mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. Nona is survived sons and daughter-in-law James & Mona, Scott and Robbie; grandchildren Tiffany, Selena, Christopher, Eliana, Amara and one great granddaughter, Traysen, four siblings and several nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 20, 2013, 10:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel; inurnment at DFW National Cemetery, at a later date.
