Nancy Elizabeth Myers, age 57, passed away on October 22 after a brief illness. Her kindness and bright presence will be greatly missed. Nancy was born in Dallas to Dr. William Rogers Nail III and Mrs. Mary Sue Gilbert Nail. She attended Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Junior High, and Skyline High schools. She studied Journalism at SMU, earning a BA degree. While there, she met David Myers, to whom she was happily married for 33 years. She worked at the Dallas Times Herald and Adweek magazine before pursuing a career as an independent writer and editor for several prominent publications. She excelled at feature writing, crafting engaging and award-winning stories on everything from contemporary artists to heirloom tomatoes. Nancy appreciated art of all genres but especially literature, movies, and music. She enjoyed Broadway musicals, bluegrass, classical, rock & roll and everything outside and in between. She was a frequent guest at Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnics and Jerry Jeff Walker’s Birthday Bashes, and loved the music of Guy Clark. Her love of animals was also an important part of her world. She is survived by her husband David, cats Hadley and Dashiell, brother William R. Nail IV of Connecticut, aunt Virginia Moore and her children Gina Moore-Eben and Bobby Moore of San Marcos, other first cousins Dr. Marilyn Stewart and Richard Gump of Dallas, also a cornucopia of beloved friends, nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends too numerous to mention. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 1 in the chapel at Sparkman/Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., 214-363-5401.
