Minnie (Denson) Hall was born on March 30, 1935 in Navasota, Texas to Willie Denson and Minnie Dillard Denson. She was the oldest of eight children. She received her formal education in the Dallas Independent School District. On February 7, 1952 she united in holy matrimony to John Thomas Gillins, who preceded her in death. To this union, six children were born. She accepted Christ in 1966 and joined Lighthouse Holiness Church under the leadership of the late R. J. Moore. She later joined Deliverance Revival Tabernacle Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Milton and Bernice Jones; now under the leadership of Bishop Elton and Sheila Jones. She served as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, and on the Pastor Anniversary Committee. She was a faithful member for 42 years. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, three brothers, her daughter, Carolyn Cook, and her granddaughter, Valencia Byrd. She leaves to cherish her memory: Three sons, Ricky Gillins, Thomas Earl Gillins, and Donald Ray Gillins; two daughters, Brenda Huckleby (Lewis) and Patricia Whitehead (Greg); three sisters, Lenora Brown, Jeanette Rhodes, and Rosetta LaBruce; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, 3 god children, Richard Ross, Berta Garrett, and Kaleb Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
