Michael Steve Thompson, 68, died peacefully on January 6, 2017, after a short and unexpected illness. Mike was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on December 5, 1948, to Herbert and Mildred (Hendrickson) Thompson. Mike worked for Texas Instruments/Raytheon as a machinist for 43 years, teaching himself a number of upper-level math and computer classes and winning numerous performance, productivity and quality awards throughout his tenure. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Irene, as well as two daughters and their husbands: Mona Denise and John Culver, and Jessica Thompson and David Pastrana. He is also survived by his siblings Tommy Thompson and Libby Pickering. He was very proud of his grandchildren: Aaron Wempe, Lauren Wempe, Michael Wempe, Gabriel Culver and Sydney Culver. He is preceded in death by daughter Christy Wempe, both of his parents and his sister, Sharon Broadwater. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a favorite charity of your choice.
