Michael William Gunning

Michael was born on July 23, 1955 and grew up in Florence, Kentucky, attending Covington Catholic High School. He graduated from Northern Kentucky University through a Presidential Scholarship in 1977.

Following graduation, Mike worked in Cincinnati, Ohio, for Shillito's Department Store before moving to Dallas in 1983. He began his 35 year career with Neiman-Marcus in Men's Designer Sportswear and rose quickly to become a premier Personal Shopper serving hundreds of clients with his trademark care and personal touch.

Throughout his career at Neiman's, Mike garnered numerous awards include Neiman Marcus Personal Best (1996).

As a diver, Mike competed in swim competitions in Toronto and Paris. He was work-out partner of many friends over the years and was frequently seen walking his dogs, Reggie and Derby, weekends on the Katy Trail.

Mike and his partner, Dwaine Bailey, were generous contributors to many deserving organizations in Dallas, including LifeWalk, Prism HealthCare North Texas, Black Tie and ACLU-Texas.

Mike will be truly missed by all who shared his golden smile, generosity, thoughtful gift-giving and fun-loving spirit.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Robert and his sister, Robin.

He is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Dwaine, his mother Marlene Gunning of Sarasota, Florida, sisters: Jennifer, Kimberly, brothers: Stephen (Jaime), Bobby (Dee), John, and nephews Seaumus and Aaron.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution to Prism HeatlhCare North Texas, LifeWalk, ACLU of Texas, Friends of the Katy Trail, or a charity of the donor's choice.

A visitation and viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 1:15 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, located at 3811 Oak Lawn Avenue, Dallas, TX 75219. Mass will follow at 2:00 PM.
