Passed away on March 24, 2014. She was born on August 22, 1920 to Joseph and Ella Crotts. Mevaleen is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Carl; daughter, Peggy Champion and husband Ray; grandson, Steven Champion and wife Martha; granddaughter, Wendy Malcolm and husband Brent; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Hannah, Ashley, Michael, and Jason; step great-grandchildren, Krista, Cameron, and Preston; many beloved Turnbow nieces and nephews: Joe, Judy, Carolyn, Jim, Jeff, John, and Jack along with their spouses and children; and a host of wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Melvin Crotts; and sisters, Kathleen Roberts and Geneva Turnbow. Mevaleen served as a nurse in the Army Air Corps during World War II where she met her beloved Carl. They shared a magical romance and married after just 6 weeks. Their amazing love was an incredible testament for their family and friends. Mevaleen was a wonderful example of what it means to be a lady and how to be a loving mother, wife, and friend. We will deeply miss her ability to out sass everyone, as well as all the love she had for her family. A celebration of her llife will be held at Highland Springs at 10:00am on Monday, March 31, 2014.
