Melinda Kay Ponder

Melinda Kay Ponder, age 64, passed away on January 27, 2023 in Pflugerville, Texas. She is now at home with the Lord. Melinda was born in Dallas, Texas to Howard Avon and Frances Jo Ponder on March 4, 1958.

She was raised in Dallas, Texas and eventually moved to Pflugerville, Texas fifty-eight years later to be a Mimi to her granddaughter. Melinda graduated from Baylor University on May 16, 1980 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. After graduating, she became a nurse, eventually retiring after 40 years of service. Her favorite roles in life were mom and Mimi to her three children and one granddaughter.

In her spare time, Melinda enjoyed spending time with her family, gambling, watching game shows, giving advice to others and playing cards and board games. Her family and friends will always remember her as a kind, loving and nurturing woman who told you like it was in life.

She is preceded in death by her mother Jo Ponder, her father Howard Ponder, her sister Pamela Armstrong, brother-in-law David Armstrong, her brother David Ponder and her nephew Joel Ereman.

Melinda is survived by her granddaughter Scarlett Rae Velez, daughter Aimee Velez, son Aaron Tolerton, son Anthony Tolerton, niece Andrea Ereman, nephew Marcus Armstrong, son-in-law Miguel Velez and other dear family.
