Melinda Carol Estrada, age 58, passed away on April 28, 2023 surrounded by her family. Melinda was born in Dallas, Texas to Alice and Henry Estrada. The family was blessed to have her as she deeply touched everyone who knew her.
At a very young age, she began her education at Special Care School and graduated from Notre Dame of Dallas School in 1984. Her work career was through a program organized by Citizens Development Center (later renamed U&I), a workforce center for special education students and adults.
Melinda was a Special Olympic Athlete, participating in track and field and swimming. She loved, loved, loved music, and was not shy to be the first person on the dance floor. She had many exciting interests and hobbies. She enjoyed Word Search puzzles, coloring, latch hook and Weddings! Melinda was an avid sports fan and didn’t miss a Dallas Cowboy game or WWE Monday Night Raw.
Her family and friends will always remember her as loving and affectionate. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion which she kept track of on her very detailed calendar. She was independent, intelligent, full of joy & optimism and lived each day to the fullest.
Melinda is preceded in death by her father, Henry Estrada. Survivors include mother: Alice Estrada, siblings: Marisa Ludwig, Henry Estrada Jr. and wife April Shopher Estrada, Patricia Parker, Alyssa Bohacs and husband Ken Bohacs, nephews & nieces: Adrienne, Alec, and Cameron Ludwig, Henry Estrada III, Marcus Estrada, wife Nicole Cortez Estrada and, Bridgett Parker, great-nephews: Alex and Leo Estrada, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 12, 2023 at 10:00 am at Calvary Hill Funeral Home North Mausoleum Chapel. Inurnment will take place immediately after service.
