Mattie Pearl King was born to the parentage of the late Joseph and Helen King on January 15, 1945 in Marshall, Texas. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Revival Tabernacle under the leadership of Rev. Faye A. Spencer. She later moved her membership to Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Eddie Ray Island Sr. Mattie Summons was a praying woman who loved to sing and praise God.
Mattie Summons received her education from Dallas Independent School. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1962. She was employed by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) for over 17 years.
She proceeds in death by her father: Joseph King; mother: Helen King; one sister: Dorothy M. King; three brothers: Henry Lee King, Louis West King, Gene King, one granddaughter: Uvonne Hunt, two great granddaughters: Lyric Morrison, Harmoni Morrison, three nephews: Dwight M. Echols, Prentice King Ealoms, and Deaute’ Hicks.
Mattie Pearl Summons is survived by two sons: Issac Pickens (Parthenia), Reginald Eskridge; two daughters: Barsha Hunt (Tony), Yvette Morrison; two Brothers: Leo King and Tommy E. King; three sisters: Bobbie J. King; Betty P. Needum; Josephine B. King; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren: A host of nieces and nephew.
