Mary Agnes Young

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in DeSoto, TX.

She was born Mary A. Lievens in the small farming community of Graceville, MN, on July 4th, 1921, to Christian and Augusta Lievens. Mary graduated from St. Mary's Academy of Graceville.

She married Richard C. Young in Moline, IL, in 1946. She will be remembered by many for her thirty years of service managing the cafeteria at Bishop Dunne High School of Dallas, running the concession stands at school sporting events, organizing text book sales, family carnivals, spaghetti dinners, student bowling league and legally ambiguous Saturday night charity bingo games benefitting the school. Mary’s many contributions also included decades of volunteer service in support of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church and School in Oak Cliff. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Altar Guild.

Mary is preceded in death by husband Richard, her parents and her much loved brothers and sisters.

Mary is survived by her six sons: Mike, Steve, Chris, Bruce, Kent, Brett, daughter-in-law Sue Young. Five grandchildren: Joshua Young, Devon & Chris Baker, Hailey & Caden Crawford, Madison & Grant Lloyd. Five great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Everett, Kinsley, Gunner and Landry. She is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews.
