Born on January 29, 1924, Gina grew up in Marshall and was a graduate of Texas Christian University, and was a school teacher for many years. A quiet trailblazer, Gina was among the first women in Dallas to work at a stock brokerage and was a student of health and wellness movements long before their entry into the mainstream. Familiar with hardship as a child of the Great Depression whose foray into adulthood was marked by the second World War, Gina learned to “bloom where you are planted,” as she frequently encouraged others to do. Her faith was the foundation of her character and the source of her personal strength. Athletic, Gina loved to dance, and was an avid swimmer at her local YMCA for 40 years. She was a voracious reader and a masterful storyteller, who passed her love of literature onto her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her family and all who knew her continue to be inspired by her faith, wisdom, and grace.
She is preceded in death by her son, John Franklin Miller III., and her husband, John Franklin Miller Jr., as well as her beloved mother Agnes Caven Orn. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Caven Miller and Martha Elizabeth Miller, her daughter-in-law, Kay O’Dwyer Miller, along with her 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, whom she deeply loved and adored.
