Mary Grace Carter Klein (Mimi) passed away peacefully with her family by her side and joined her Heavenly Father on May 26, 2017. Born on October 14, 1928 to Grace Connally and James Fleming Carter Jr. in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary Grace was the youngest of three girls. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, where she served as secretary of her senior class. She then came to Dallas to attend S.M.U. where she met the love of her life, Leslie S. Klein, Jr. They married in 1950 and were blessed with two sons, Les and Mark. They had more than 60 years together, filled with raising their sons, lots of beach vacations, years of sporting events, and much love and laughter.
Mary Grace was a member of University Park United Methodist Church, Kappa Alpha Theta, The Dallas Woman’s Club, The Dallas Garden Club, The Heritage Book Club, and Les Femmes du Monde.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Delia Elizabeth Bowden, and her loving husband Les Klein. Survived by sons Les, and wife Ann, and Mark, and wife Nancy, along with her sister Shirley Ann Schell of Plano. Also, by her grandchildren, Matt Klein (Sarah), John Klein (Emily), Katherine Herron (Chris), Michael Klein (Marisa), James Klein (Amy), Ginna Klein, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is very grateful for the compassionate care given by Sharon Jackson, Lucy Roberson, Charlette Robertson, and Tamica Smith over the past few years, along with the caring staff at Caruth Haven Court.
Family graveside service will be at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 30 at 11:00am. with visitation at 10am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Highland Park Sports Club.
