Mary Catherine Grimes Hearne

Mary Catherine Grimes Hearne passed away March 1, 2010. She was born in San Angelo, Texas in 1910 and moved with her parents, R. S. and Maud Grimes and her younger brother, Robert Grimes, to Dallas in 1923. She was in the last class to graduate from Bryan High School in Dallas in 1928. She attended CIA (now Texas Woman’s University) in Denton, Texas. After the death of her parents she became a business woman. In 1940 she married Herschel Hearne whom she met while working at Southland Life Insurance Company. He preceded her in death in 1989. They had two sons. She is survived by John Hearne and his wife Marilyn and Martin Hearne and his wife Linda. She had 5 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. She is survived by many special friends and family. She was a member of East Dallas Christian Church for 87 years and a founding member of the Sanders Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Dallas TCU Club and several book clubs. A visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. A private burial service will be held before the memorial service which will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at 11 am at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 North Peak, Dallas, TX 75246 with a reception following at the church.
