He entered active service in the U.S. Navy on September 25, 1945, where he served aboard the USS Chicago, a Baltimore-class heavy cruiser, sailing in the Asiatic Pacific. He married Virginia Cantrell, December 23, 1947, at his parent’s home in Dallas, Texas. Marvin honorably discharged from the Navy on December 1, 1948.
Marvin’s career in television spanned 42 years at KRLD-TV and KDFW-TV in master control. Over the years, his broadcast operations experience included the news, special events, and sports, especially his passion, football.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, son, Michael and granddaughter, Michele, also his brother, Roy, and sister, Doris. His sons, Bill (Teresa), and Charles (Clare), 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, his brother, Robert (Louise), as well as nephews and nieces, survive him.
