Marvin E. Harris passed away on May 18, 2012 in Carrollton, Texas. He was born in Scotland Neck, North Carolina on April 3, 1932 to Loy Vernon Harris and Elizabeth Brookshire Harris. Marvin's father was a Methodist minister and Army Chaplain during World War II. Marvin proudly served in the US Navy stateside during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. In 1958, Marvin graduated from North Carolina State University, earning a degree in mechanical engineering. For 30 years, Marvin worked in electronic component sales in the Dallas area. He was known for his friendly and open personality and his love for World War II history and aviation. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Vernon, Gerald and Harold. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Carrie Pollinzi Harris; daughters, Carol Nannette Harris of Plano and Deborah Placek of Austin; sister, Betty Harris of Fresno, California; mother-in-law, Rose Pollinzi of Carrollton; 3 sister-in-laws, Joann Harris, Winnie Harris, Mary Pollinzi Brown and her husband Ralph Brown; other nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will by held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment at Calvary Hill Mausoleum in Dallas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
