Martha Jane (Marty) Fox was born on June 19, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and went home to her Lord on June 27, 2020 in Plano, Texas. Marty graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and began her career as a ladies’ ready-to-wear buyer for Sears, Roebuck & Company. It was there she met and ultimately married her husband of 65 years, Roger A. Fox, and embarked on a new journey as wife, mother, and homemaker.
She was a constant source of support, love and unending fun for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she would drop anything to spend time with them. One of her greatest joys was her 67-year active membership in Beta Sigma Phi, a social, civic, and cultural organization. Marty made many lifelong friends after initially joining in 1953 and truly treasured every moment with her beloved sorority sisters.
She is survived by her daughters Nanci J. Leslie (Phil), Patricia A. “Patti” Naylor (Howard “Bud”), and son Robert D. “Bob” Fox (Cathy). She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two grandsons Ryan H. Jacks (Whitney) and Howard N. “Nate” Naylor (Kelsey), two great-grandchildren, Andrew W. Jacks and Emerson L. Jacks, along with her beloved nieces and nephews Tracy Furey, Linda Arnold, William “Biff” Short, and Jon Short. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger A. Fox, daughter Kimberly A. Fox, parents, William L. Short and Mary A. Short, and her brother William T. Short.
A private interment will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her family kindly asks for donations in her memory to The Family Gateway, an organization dedicated to children and families affected by homelessness.
