Maria Elena is preceded in death by her parents, Rodolfo and Belen Beltran; sister, Maria Antonieta Hirt; grandson, Rolando Martinez; and great-grandson, Jaylen Irvin.
She is survived by her two brothers, Rodolfo Beltran (Maria), and Frank Beltran (Delia); and sister Veronica Beltran; her children, Diana Alonzo, Lisa Bonnie Martinez-Urrutia, Virginia Donna Rodriguez (Arthur), Maria “Chacha” Urrutia, Michael Daniel Robinson (Genoveva), Frank Phillips (Danielle), and Anthony Phillips (Marie); her grandchildren, Amanda Alonzo (Carlos), Michael Martinez (Lucy), Cruz Martinez (Rachel), Dannette Garay, Jennifer Garcia (Matt), Tabitha Alvarez (Mindy), George Sandoval(Isaura), Corey Urrutia, Jasmine Irvin, Courtney Urrutia, Robert Urrutia, Javier Martinez (Vivi), Angel Martinez, Luis Martinez (Jessy), Christian Robinson, Ashley Robinson (David), Michelle Robinson (Simon), Jesse Phillips, Stephanie Benjamin, Presley Thompson, Baylei Thompson, Rita Chavez(Antonio), Anthony Phillips (Vanessa), Tristan Phillips, Jennifer Martel, Joseph Phillips, Nathan Phillips, Angelina Davalos (Adrian), Alexis Davalos (Jason), Abraham Davalos (Ashley); 42 great-grandchildren;
Maria Elena was born in Mexico City, Mexico and at 12 years old her family moved to Raymondville, TX. In her early 20’s she went to Mission, TX to begin her nursing career. She enlisted in the United States Army and in 1991, she retired honorably as a Sergeant First Class E7 after 26 years. During her military career she served in Desert Storm. While raising her 7 kids, she continued her nursing education and graduated from Dallas Baptist University with her Bachelor’s degree. She spent 57 years as a nurse and retired from Parkland at the age of 81 in 2021. She was also a member of Woodmen Life Organization and also volunteered at the North Texas Food Bank.
