Maria Alma Lopez was born in San Benito, Texas to Porfirio and Manuela Cadena on February 24th, 1942. She married Ysaias Lopez on November 21st, 1975, in Dallas, Texas. Maria was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was always available when we needed her. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family, she helped raise most of her grandchildren, she was most definitely a second mother to many. Maria was a God-fearing strong Christian woman.
She worshiped and loved the Lord daily even though she was fighting many illnesses. Every morning she would shout, "Thank you Lord for waking me up and blessing me with another day of life!" Even when Maria's strength was diminishing, she still wanted to attend Church and did attend up to the last months of life. When she physically could no longer attend Church, she would watch it on TV and listen to her favorite worship not only on Sunday but every day. Even in her last hours of life we played her worship music.
Maria was famous for her homemade beans, rice, and her delicious tortillas. She would ask her grandkids, "what do you want for your birthday?", the most popular request they would ask for was her beans, rice and tortillas.
Maria was the most humble and sweetest person you would ever meet, she was also known for being honest, blunt, and sassy if she needed to be. Maria loved her, DALLAS COWBOYS & Tony Romo and even attended two of the Super Bowl parades held in Downtown Dallas. She loved watching I Love Lucy & watched Little House on the Prairie, every single day! Maria's favorite vacation spot was GARNER STATE PARK this became an annual tradition with her family. Maria's favorite place to eat was Rosa's Café, and every Sunday she ate menudo and tamales and would never forget to remind us on Saturday night not to forget to have that ready for her on Sunday morning. Maria loved Big Red more than she loved her morning coffee and water. She would always tell us Big Red is the reason she lived so long.
Maria lived a full, blessed, beautiful life and was ready to go to the Kingdom to meet our heavenly Father.
