She was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, moved to El Paso, but lived in Dallas for most of her life.
Maria was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Rivera and son Emilio Rivera. Other surviving family members are her son David Rivera, grandson Zachariah Rivera and granddaughter Andreah Rivera, daughter-in-law Shirlee Rivera (widow of Emilio), and grandchildren Amanda Kennedy, Martin Rivera, Lena Kelley, and Amelia Sakai. She is also survived by 3 great granddaughters, Memphis, Emi, and Odessa.
Maria loved to laugh and dance, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren loved to dance with their “Tita” even in her later years. She always had animals or birds to care for and kept plants and flowers thriving. She loved Jesus and was always thinking of and praying for others.
Maria loved her family and others well and will be remembered fondly by family and friends for her delicious food, serving heart, and generosity toward others.
