Maria De Jesus Cerrillo (1923- 2017) Maria de Jesus Cerrillo, also known as “Mamachuy, Doña Maria, or Tia Jesus”, Age 93 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017, in Grand Prairie, TX, surrounded by her loved ones. Maria De Jesus was born on December 8th, 1923 in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She had a passion for helping and taking care of others and took great pride that she did this her entire life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, and especially loved tending to her garden and her beautiful roses. She enjoyed watching wrestling, scary movies, recording videos of family, and singing. She was very social and always welcomed a house full of guests to enjoy each other’s company, laugh, eat, and spend quality time together. One of the ways she expressed her love towards family and friends was through cooking and she truly enjoyed seeing her family enjoy her delicious meals. She also understood the importance of education and encouraged everyone to stay in school and always do their best and look their best. When she was in her mid to late 50’s, she took evening courses at the local elementary school to learn the English language and to help her with her citizenship exam. She was a second mother to so many of us and loved us unconditionally. We will carry and treasure these memories in our hearts forever. Maria De Jesus is survived by her daughters, Maria Luisa Hernandez, Esperanza Mendieta and husband Elijio Mendieta. Granddaughters, Stephanie Gonzalez and husband Leo Gonzalez, Martha Gloria and husband Rose Gloria, Irene Silva and husband Gabriel Silva, Griselda Hernandez, Diana Hernandez and husband Patrick Hernandez, Arisdey Hernandez and husband Nick Diaz, Estela Hernandez, Rosy Mendieta, Victoria Mendieta, Veronica Mendieta, Esperanza Mendieta, Irma Mendieta, and Beatriz Mendieta Grandsons, Ruben Hernandez and wife Marisol Davalos, Alfonso Hernandez and wife Claudia Hernandez. Numerous great grandchildren, Jennifer, Zachary, Joshua, RoseAmber, Jake, Madeline, Elle, Gabriella, Emerson, Victoria, Sofia, Luz Syrah, Olivia, Alex, Valerie, Miguel, Ada, Mia, Mario, Jessica, Aaron and Adrian. Many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by her son, Roberto C Hernandez, October 9th, 2009, and grandson, Roberto Hernandez, Jr., March 30th, 2017. Visitation will be held Friday September 1, 2017 from 4:00PM till 8:00PM with a rosary scheduled for 6:00PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held 1:30PM Saturday September 2, 2017 at Gonzalez Funeral Home. interment Calvary Hill Cemetery. Thank you to all our wonderful family and friends for your love and support.
