Margaret Jean Morgan was born to Ivory Mitchell and Betty Curry Mitchell on December 2, 1928 in Faunsdale, Alabama. Her family included five brothers, Willie Curry, Taylor Mitchell, Ivory Mitchell, Ernest Mitchell and Web Mitchell. She also had four sisters Ida Eaton, Gertrude Sanders, Frances Thompson and Daisy Holman.
She professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age. She continued to practice her faith in the Lord at numerous churches throughout her life until she settled at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in 2001 in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Margaret Jean Morgan passed away on June 4, 2020 after 91 blessed years.
After her birth, her family settled in Bessemer, Alabama and she completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. She then married First Lieutenant Ernest P. Morgan on July 18, 1956 and became a devoted military wife for the next fourteen years that encompassed duty stations across the United States and Frankfort, Germany. The union between Ernest and Margaret lasted for forty-four years and resulted in four children: Jacquelyn Morgan, Gregory Morgan (deceased), Deborah Morgan and Ernest Morgan, Jr.
As a military wife who traveled with her husband, she began her teaching career prior to getting married and retired in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after 25 years. Margaret taught all grade levels from elementary to high school and instilled a strong academic background in her four children.
In addition to her professional career, she thoroughly enjoyed gardening and always kept a garden in her front and back yards and multiple plants inside. Margaret was a strong supporter of her children’s extracurricular activities which ranged from Cheerleading, Band, Majorettes and multiple sports. She was also a participant at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship as a member of Silver Stars, Women of Courage and the Comfort and Care Ministry.
She was preceded in death by: both parents, nine siblings, her husband and her oldest son Gregory (Charlette). Margaret is survived by daughters Jacquelyn Morgan and Deborah Morgan; son Ernest Morgan (Crystal); seven grandchildren Morgan, Lauren, Zachary, Lonnie II, Elijah, Ethan and Evan; and an extended family of nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends who love and cherish her precious memory.
