Margaret (Peggy) Martin Goodwin passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the age of 88. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on February 5, 1924, to Lenore Gibson Martin and Marvin E. Martin. Peggy graduated from Highland Park High School in 1942. On May 10, 1947, Peggy married Charles Joseph Goodwin Jr. Together, they had 9 children, Terry, John, Marty, Ann (d. 1963), Greg, Charlie, Kevin, Patrick and Lynn Ruth.
Peggy was an original parishioner of St. Monica Catholic Church Parish, a member for 60 years. Faith and spirituality were vital to Peggy’s daily life. She expressed those personal values by giving her time, talents, money and love to many organizations and persons. A devotee of positive thinking, she kept a library of inspirational maxims. Peggy was the queen of positive sayings. Having found herself single, she supported her family as a teacher’s assistant with the Dallas ISD. Her hobbies included crochet, visiting with friends, reading, travelling, spending time with her 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She imparted the love of baking to anyone who joined in her passion for sweets. Peggy lived every minute fully, savoring life’s gifts. She believed that life challenged us, but could not defeat us.
Peggy was survived by her children, Terry Dybala and partner Bobbie Su Nadal, John Goodwin, Marty Goodwin, Greg Goodwin, Charlie Goodwin, Kevin Goodwin, Patrick Goodwin, Lynn Ruth Gresores and Adrian Gresores, her grandchildren, Amy, Candy, Heather, Jodi, Adriene, Sean, Daniel, Stephen, Ben, Nathan, Jake, and Samson, and her great grandchildren, Nick, Chelsea, Chance, and Savannah.
Friends and family are invited to a Gathering from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to begin a 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Calvary Hill North Mausoleum Chapel. Inurnment to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of her daughter, Ann.
