Oldest of three children, Margaret was born in Dallas on June 4, 1927 to Edith Singleton and Olin Winston Dalton. She attended Greiner Jr. High and Sunset High School where she met the love of her life – Bobby Folsom. At Sunset she was a cheerleader and “most popular Senior girl”.
Margaret followed Bobby to SMU where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. They were married March 4, 1949. Margaret and Bob made time for traveling throughout their 64 years of marriage and shared this love through many wonderful family vacations.
Their life was filled with many joys including the birth of their four children: Diane, Debbie, Johnny and Steve. Family was her priority in life; she loved and very much enjoyed frequent family gatherings and birthday celebrations. She always put others before herself, and she treasured spending time with dear friends.
She was devoted to her church, Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. Margaret and Bob joined Lovers Lane in 1952 and became strong leaders from the beginning. She had a very strong faith which was lived out through her generosity to the many ministries and missions of the church, including the building of the Tom Shipp Chapel in 2009.
She was also a member of Dallas Country Club, Bent Tree Country Club, Dallas Woman’s Club and The Dallas Garden Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bob Dalton; her son, Johnny, and granddaughter Emily Folsom. She is survived by her husband Bob, children: Diane Frank with husband Robert, Debbie Jarma with husband Don, and Steve Folsom with wife Sharon; eight grandchildren: Clayton Miller with wife Sarah, Margaret Miller, Holly Olmstead with husband Bradley, Casey Prater with husband Collin, Julie Jarma, and Hunter, Chase, and Annabelle Folsom; two step-grandchildren Stacey Conover with husband Scott, Scott Frank,with wife Denise; four great grandchildren: Ryan Miller, Coby and Zoe Miller, and Wesley Olmstead; two step-great grandchildren Caden and Kellan Conover. She is also survived by her brother Jack and wife Eloise.
