Peggy Busby was born November 22, 1934 to Denver and Lanore Busby in Chicago, IL. At age 5, Peggy moved to the new Busby home in Hinsdale, IL. It was there that she and her brothers, Stan and Howard, enjoyed the space and lessons that farm life teaches.
After finishing her Bachelor’s degree at what was then known as the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN, Peggy entered the Ursuline Novitiate in Crystal City, MO in July, 1957.
Her life as an Ursuline educator took her to parochial schools and Ursuline Academies in Alton, IL, Frontenac, MN, San Antonio, TX and Dallas. In these various places Peggy served youngsters and teenagers in various capacities: classroom teacher, camp director (Camp Frontenac), their campus minister, counselor and assistant principal.
When Peggy left the Ursuline Community in 1988, she chose Dallas as her home. Her strong interest in the well-being of her former students at Ursuline Academy of Dallas led them to form life-long friendships. It was Peggy’s pleasure to renew acquaintances at class reunion meetings, where all — the teacher, counselor, administrator and the now-grown students — exchanged many a lively tale of high school classes and escapades. Through the years, Peggy’s reputation as mentor and guide grew stronger among the UA alumnae. Peggy’s life focused on the education of young women; be it physical, spiritual, personal or in the classroom.
As a licensed family therapist, she served many families and children both in her office and as an expert witness in civil court cases. Her natural ability combined with her professional education led her to continue practicing as a therapist until shortly before her death.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents, her brother Stan and her dear nephew, Chris. She is survived by many friends and colleagues who miss her vivacity and wisdom. In addition, in San Diego, CA her brother, Howard and wife Sue survive her, as do their children, Elizabeth and Jeff (Sally) and their three daughters, Lucy, Grace and Claire. Her sister-in-law, Evelina Busby of Vermont and daughters Katherine and Mary (Bryce) and their son, Wylder also survive Peggy.
Peggy passed from this life on July 27, 2021. Her Memorial Service will be conducted at noon at St. Rita Parish Church, 12521 Inwood Road on October 2, 2021.
