Karl Baumgarten was born December 8, 1927 in Kolomyja, Poland, now Ukraine and passed away June 25, 2012 in Dallas. Karl lost his entire family at the age of 12, including his parents, grandparents and only brother. After being liberated from the concentration camp Karl was in a displaced persons camp in Berlin, Germany until he was sponsored to come to the U.S. by distant relatives in Beaumont, Texas, arriving in 1949. He served in the U.S. military intelligence for two years during the Korean War. He earned a B.A. degree from Lamar College and was a manufactures representative in the apparel industry for 45 years. He is survived by his wife rose Marie Baumgarten, stepsons: Michael R. Belaire, Beaumont, TX, Charles E. Belaire, Rockport, TX, Leslie J. Belaire, Pecos, TX, S. Kent Belaire, Plano, TX and 13 step-grandchildren. A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Dallas, TX. Rabbi Debra Robbins will officiate.
