On November 18, 2022, Maggie Marie West gained her wings and joined her husband Floyd in Heaven. She lived a long and happy life for 91 years. She was born on May 6, 1931, in Emory, TX to Bill and Ruby McQueen. She was one of 14 children, having 8 brothers and 5 sisters. On January 8, 1948, she married Floyd West in Rains County, TX. Together they had six children. She and Floyd started a full station service station in Dallas, TX that they ran and operated until Floyd passed away in 1997. Many of the children and grandchildren grew up in that station working or helping with various tasks. They had been married for 48 years.
Maggie loved staying home. She had a love for a clean house. At any given time, you could walk into her house, and it was spotless. Her yard was always so neatly manicured, and the landscaping was beautiful. She enjoyed spending time outside with her plants. She had a love for little dogs throughout her years. Cooking was one of her favorite things to do. She would always enjoy hosting family events and cooking a large meal. She loved making desserts as well. If you knew Maggie, you knew eating those desserts was also one of her favorite things to do! She loved her sweets! Maggie was very direct and would tell you exactly what she was thinking or how she felt about something. You could always expect the truth from her. Maggie will be greatly missed and forever loved.
She is survived by her six children: Brenda Springer, Wesley West, Thurman West, Sheila Messerly, Angela Ford, and Roger West.
She had 23 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Ruby McQueen and her husband, Floyd West.
