She was born to the parentage of Henry Lee Kirkwood and Lucille Dinkin on September 22, 1925, in Dallas, Texas.
Mae Frances attended public school in Dallas. After graduation, she attended Phillips Business College, which prepared her for a career with the United States Government. She served at the Pentagon before returning to Dallas.
On April 15, 1947, Mae Frances married the love of her life, Rossie Lee King. Out of this union were born five sons: Kenneth, Reginald, Wanza, Nolan, and Michael.
Mae Frances gave her life to Christ at the age of 12. She sang in the choir at the Golden Gate Baptist Church.
Mae Frances later moved her church affiliation to the Concord Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ross; brothers, Charles and Johnny Lee; and son, Reginald. Mae Frances leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sister, Bernice; brother, Eugene; sons, Kenneth, Wanza, Nolan, and Michael; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a lifelong friend, Naomi Jackson.
