Mrs. Madge Louise Mansell, age 93, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Friday November 23, 2018. Madge was born July 1, 1925 in Mooringsport, LA. She was the daughter of Hope Jack McGlothin and Annie Dea Melton.
Her early childhood was spent near Caddo Lake where she loved to swim. In Marshall High School, Madge loved basketball and math. She excelled in both and won many awards. As an adult she worked at North American Aviation. She started as a "Rosie the Riveter" working on P51's. She then moved to a blueprint plan checker on T6's. While working there she was presented an "E" pin by President Roosevelt while he was visiting the facility. In 1949, she moved to Peru Illinois where she had her daughter Patsy. Two years later she returned to Dallas. She was always active in the Baptist Church. Primarily at Hampton Place Baptist Church and later on at Cockrel Hill Baptist Church. She loved working next to Hans Tobehn at Jan's Bakery for more than 20 years. Tyler Street Manor was filled with friends and a true sense of home for 29 years.
Madge was preceded in death by her husband Ottis Mansell, daughters Patricia Manry & twin infant daughters, brother Morris "Sonny" McGlothin, sister Sybil Green, and parents Hope & Annie McGlothin.
Surviving are her daughter & son-in-law - Ann & Tom Crocker, grandson - Marc Manry, granddaughter & husband - Sharon & Kenikenihialāmaika'i Aikau, great granddaughters - Mary Miller, Rory Miller & Kahiwaleiho'oheno Aikau, great grandson - Jack Miller, niece & husband - Janell & Edo Bucci, nieces - Dixie Billows & Lou Davis, and sister-in-law Arletta McGlothin.
A visitation for Madge will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following the visitation will be a service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM officiated by Reverend Robert Manry and Reverend Ed Cole at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6000 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232.
