Lynda Joyce Smith was born to Rodest Marie (Smith) Robinson and the late Virgil Alvin Connor (fondly remembered for his wisdom filled lectures), on January 28, 1953. Lynda Joyce graduated from Crozier Tech High School, in 1971, and went on to attend Kilgore Junior College, majoring in business management. Lynda Joyce leaves to cherish her fondest memories, her oldest daughter and attorney, Zandra L. Robinson (T. Daniel Curry), her baby-girl and fashionista, Ashley Dakota Smith; her beautiful grandchildren, Trinity Sky Robinson (“her little pumpkin”), Kylie Lynn Degree (“her little secretary”) and Baylee Marie Polk (“her little singer”); her parents, Rodest Marie Robinson(the “joy of her life”) and John L. Robinson (her “rock”); her brother, Frederick McMillian Sr. and Angela McMillian; her sister, Joyce Marie Joseph and Johnny Joseph Sr.; Telisha Black (“her Saturday morning coffee sister”),her beloved nieces and nephews, Frederick McMillian Jr. and Brandon McMillian (Rachel and baby Nyah), Chasity Joseph and Little Johnny Jospeh Jr; one furbaby, Milo (“the lion cat”); and, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
Lynda Joyce was a woman of God, who lived spiritually, was lavish in compassion and love, and was a true lover of music. Lynda Joyce was a safe haven to many, opening her home to all who needed food and shelter. Lynda Joyce loved unconditionally. The Word of God tells us that “there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother,” and indeed Lynda Joyce’s spirit embodied the very essence of this scripture. She was a faithful friend. And, if you had Lynda Joyce as a friend, you truly had a friend. Lynda Joyce was known for her beautiful singing voice, which was one of many of her spiritual gifts. And, now these three remain of the life and legacy of Lynda Joyce Smith: faith, hope and the love. But, the greatest of these is love.
