May 1, 1951 to November 19, 2018
Lydia Torres “Mamaw” age 67, of Dallas, Texas, passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her husband, children, sons & daughters-in-law and grandchildren. She was granted her beautiful Angel wings on Tuesday, November 19, 2018 at 8:39 PM.
Lydia was born to Joe & Felicita (Rodriguez) Lira on May 1, 1951 in El Campo, Texas. However, Lydia lived her adult life in Dallas, Texas. She was a devout Christian of Catholic faith and a member of St Cecilia Catholic Church for over 30+ years. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, volunteering and advocating for those whose voices otherwise would’ve gone unheard. She loved to travel and loved all things “shiny with bling-bling”. Lydia and Asuncion married on January 11, 1974 and together had four children. Lydia loved her family whole-heartedly and was definitely the Matriarch of the family.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Asuncion Torres, whom she dearly called “Honey” and their four children - Daughter: F. Michelle (Torres) Carlile (married to Joseph (Joe-d) Carlile) - Son: A. Daniel Torres (married to Amanda M. Torres) - Son: J. Manuel Torres (married to Ariell G. Torres) and Daughter: Christal F. (Torres) Maguregui (married to Oscar R. Maguregui).
Mamaw, as we all called her, was blessed with eight grandchildren - Joseph W. & Jonothon M. Carlile (20 years old), Ashlen A. Estrada (17 years old), Bethany S. Carlile (13 years old), Anissa D. Torres (9 years old), Maddex D. Maguregui (8 years old), Zoe M. Torres (4 years old) and Margeaux I. Maguregui (2 years old).
In addition to her parents, Joe & Felicita Lira, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Jesse Luna, Rosa Luna, Joe Luna, Frank Lira and Robert Lira. Survived by siblings Esperanza (Lira) Maldonado, Lupe (Lira) Escobar, Roy Lira and Davis Lira and several nieces and nephews. Although Lydia & Asuncion’s home has always been a place where many, including her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews found shelter, food and lots of love, she had a dedicated hand in raising Linda Luna, Eva Lopez, Edward Lira and Johnny Davallo as if they were her own.
Honey, Mommy, Mamaw, Tia had a heart of gold (with bling, of course) and her legacy will forever be embedded into our hearts and the hearts of many!
We love you Mommy! Go in peace - spread those beautiful angelic wings wide open and fly with the Angels! You are home!
