She graduated from Crozier Tech High School, and was very strong in the community. She married the love of her life, Guadalupe Hernandez, on May 18, 1946. She was a homemaker and together they raised their three children Mary, Irene, and David. Lupe loved being a mom and grandma and spent much of her life taking care of others. She spent several years babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always so proud of her family and their accomplishments.
Lupe loved all the Dallas sports teams and her soap operas that she called her “stories”. She enjoyed doing puzzles, crossword puzzles, reading the paper, and going out to eat. She loved parties and holidays. She was always kind, had the warmest smile, was positive, supportive, and welcomed everyone with open arms. She was so proud of her education and the educational successes of her children and grandchildren.
She hung all the graduates’ pictures on her wall of fame in her living room.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe, her daughter Mary H. Bitela, and her grandsons Paul and John Padilla. She is survived by her daughter Irene and husband Tony, son David and wife Kim, eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Visitation is Thursday, Feb. 8 from 4-8 p.m. at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial is at noon on Friday, Feb. 9 at Calvary Hill.
