Lucille Kersh Scott, 98, peacefully passed to Heaven on Sunday, February 24, 2019. She was born on November 5, 1920, in Lubbock, Texas, and raised by loving parents Van and Onie Kersh. She grew up in the Oak Cliff community of Dallas, Texas, and married the love of her life, Robert Donald Scott, on July 26, 1939. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Carolyn and Robert, Jr. Texas’ oil business led them to Tyler, Midland, Houston, and Dallas, where in each city they actively served various congregations of the Church of Christ. A devout Christian, at her passing Mrs. Scott was the oldest member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas.
Lucille was a talented artist, avid gardener, and loved to make her home beautiful and comfortable for her family. She, her husband, family, and friends loved to travel together, especially cruising, and she has traveled to many places in the world. She loved life and was adventurous and strong in spirit and heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald of almost 62 years, daughter-in-law Judy Scott and grandson Gary Robert Scott. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Scott Galvan and husband Cruz of Arlington, son Robert D. Scott, Jr. and wife Kay of Round Rock; seven grandchildren: Sheila Cook, Shelley Chitty, Deborah Shilling, April Ramos, Adam Harris, Clay Firby, and Anna Beth Kahre, 17 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to noon Thursday, February 28, at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 R. L. Thornton Freeway (Interstate 35 N), Dallas, with grave-side service to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park (same address). Services will be conducted by Danny Elliot and Kerry Cashion. Music provided by Tony Cook. Pallbearers are Tony Cook, Joshua Cook, Clay Firby, Alan Scott, Jim Jackson and Richard Cook.
