She was born August 19, 1920 in Strawn, Texas, and moved to Dallas at an early age with her parents Donald Henry Mackay and Marie Louise (Habig) Mackay and her brother Donald Henry Mackay, Jr., all now deceased.
A gifted, professionally trained soprano, she had a lifelong passion for music. As a teenager, she embarked on a professional singing career spanning over four decades. During the 1940’s, she had her own radio program “Songs by Louise”, on Dallas radio station WFAA and performed regularly on other WFAA broadcast musical programs including “The Early Birds”. For over 30 years she sang throughout Dallas for weddings, funerals and civic clubs such as the Dallas Woman’s Club and Dallas Banker’s Wives. She was lead choir soloist at Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
In 1946 she married John Loren Boynton, a Dallas banker, who passed away in 1987. Together they raised 4 children: John Kent Boynton, Donald Mackay Boynton, Hilda Louise (Boynton) Jaffe, and Celia Marie (Boynton) Andrus. She leaves her children, her niece, Carolyn (Mackay) Laurence of Dallas, and seven grandchildren: Loren Boynton, Mackay Boynton, Sara (Boynton) Dominguez, Jacob Andrus, Austin Andrus, Matthew Boynton, Adam Boynton, and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX, 75225, (214) 363-5401, on October 4, 2019, at 10:00 am. Donations may be made to the Presbyterian Village North Foundation, 8600 Skyline Drive, Dallas, TX, 75243.
