Louis Lawrence Lopez passed away on August 12, 2016 at the age of 69. He is preceded in death by his niece Sonja Ayala-Byrum, Sister Carrie Lopez-Cardenas, father Ignacio C. Lopez and Brother, Raymond Lopez. He is survived by his wife, Viola Lopez, son, Phillip Lopez and wife Danielle, daughter, Roxanne Rousseau and husband Keith. His mother, Evelyn Lopez, sisters, Theresa Hill and husband, Roger, Priscilla Lopez, Patricia Smith and husband, Dugan and Grace Simpson, and brother Felix Lopez. Grandchildren, Desire, Alex, Jessica, Nicole, Stormy, Damien, Bella, and Gavin, Xavion and Malia. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, he was a decorated Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was dearly loved by his immediate and extended family and friends. On December 27, 1946 Louis was born to Ignacio C. Lopez and Evelyn Arechiga Lopez in Austin, Texas. He attended St. James Catholic School, Bishop Dunne Preparatory Catholic High School, and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1965. After graduation in 1966 he was drafted by the U.S.Army to fight in the Vietnam Conflict. He volunteered for special forces and was assigned to the 82nd All American and 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles in Vietnam. He fought as a point man and was awarded the below mentioned medals and commendations as sergeant E5 National Defense Service. Parachute Badge Marksmanship "Sharp Shooter" Purple Heart Bronze star Vietnam Service Medal Combat Infantryman Badge Army Commendation Medal with a "V" Device On June 12, 1967, Louis married his "Honey Girl" Viola Solis. He was blessed with a son and daughter, Phillip born on October 21, 1969, and Roxanne, born on June 12, 1969. They raised their children in Oak Cliff where Louie began his career as a construction tile setter. Later in 1980 they moved to the suburb of Sachse where they built their dream home on 5 acres. He built his business on hard work and determination. and became one of DFWs most sought after Tile Contractors. He was able to teach several men to lay tile over the years and his work can be seen all over the DFW area in custom homes and commercial buildings. At an early age he had a love for pigeons. He built his first loft at the age of 9. He joined the Dallas Homing Pigeon Club House in 1976 where he won numerous titles, trophies, certificates and awards. Maintaining his listing as a National Ranking Champion for several years in a row. He was also voted to be the club house President for 2 years. He was also an avid fisherman where he took his family to enjoy the waters of Lake Tawokni. In 1985 they purchased a 3 acre lake front property where they continued to raise their children on the lake. "Louie's Landing" is and will always be the family's paradise for generations to come.
