Lorine Lovie Christian Sears was born on June 2, 1935, to her parents, the late Rayford Christian and Christine Jones Christian in Dallas, Texas. Mother Sears accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Evergreen Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas under the leadership of the late Reverend Cleveland. Her family later joined Ideal Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend P.T. Shaw, where she was a member of the choir.
Mother Sears matriculated through the Dallas Independent School District attending N.W. Harllee and Lincoln High School (Home of the Tigers) where she was a member of the pep squad as a twirler. She attended Brookhaven College, Cedar Valley College, and Eastfield College majoring in Child Development.
On October 25, 1952, Mother Sears united in holy matrimony to her childhood sweetheart, Jimmy Lee Sears. They were married for 62 wonderful years. To this union, five children were born; Janice, Vickie, Cedrick, Kim, and Darrell.
Mother Sears’ career consisted of working as a CNA at Presbyterian Village, Assistant Director at Champion CDC, and Infant/Toddler Head Teacher. She also served in other capacities such as Dietician and Trainer of Infant/Toddler Staff at Champion CDC.
Mother Sears was a member of True Believers Baptist Church from 1968-1975 where she was a member of the choir, served as the Youth Sponsor, and was faithful to Sunday School and BTU classes.
In 1975, Reverend Jessie Peterson founded Peterson Memorial Baptist Church. Through the years, Mother Sears faithfully served on the Church Committee, as Choir President, Deaconess President, Youth Department President, Treasurer, and Church Finance Secretary.
In 2013, Peterson Memorial Baptist Church and Great Millennium Baptist Church merged under the leadership of Reverend R.D. Brown. Mother Sears served as Deaconess President, member of the Usher Board, and Church Mother. Mother Sears retired in 1996 to enjoy a life of leisure with her love, Jimmy. She had a genuine interest in everyone who came into her home and made sure to get to know each one personally. She made them feel special and important, and she had a personal connection to everyone she met. Mother Sears always made you feel welcomed and loved.
On January 27, 2024, Mother Sears transitioned from earth to glory. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Jimmy Sears; Darrell Sears, Sr. (son); her brother, Gene Ray Christian, and two sisters, Yvonne Christian and Royce Christian.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories three daughters- Janice Jones and Vickie Robinson of Dallas, TX; Kim Jackson (Johnny) of Missouri City, TX; one son, Cedrick Sears; sister, Corine Brown; special daughter, Deborah Kay Blair; God sister, Mary Johnson (James); 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
