Lorene Armstrong

Lorene Armstrong, age 97, passed away on March 17, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on September 12, 1926, in Tiawah, Oklahoma to William P. and Gussie (Barnes) Watkins. Lorene was raised in Pryor, Oklahoma, Cherokee Nation Reservation, and graduated from Chouteau, Oklahoma in 1944.

She married Delmah Joe Armstrong in 1943 and the couple had 3 children. She worked in retail sales and merchandise for multiple years.

In her spare time, Lorene enjoyed gardening and going for long drives in the country. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Her family and friends will always remember her as a compassionate, generous person, with a wicked sense of humor. She loves the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes was her boyfriend.

She is preceded in death by her her husband, Del Armstrong; daughter, Theresa Sheffield (David); parents, William P. and Gussie (Barnes) Watkins; and sister, Norma (Watkins) Pappe.

She is survived by Susan A. Coltharp (Mike) of Dallas, Texas; Paul Armstrong (Patricia) of Chesterfield, Missouri; her grandchildren, LaShawne (Johnny) Harrison of Garland, Texas; Ethan Sheffield of Sachse, Texas, Matthew and Zachary Armstrong of Chesterfield, Missouri; and her great-grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Harrison of Los Angeles, California, Samantha Harrison of Boynton Beach, Florida, Haley Harrison of Garland, Texas, Meredith Sheffield, Stone Sheffield, McKenny Sheffield, all from Searcy, Arkansas, Wyatt Dubiel of Phoenix, Arizona, and Isabella Dubiel of Plano, Texas.

She was a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation Oklahoma. Descendant of Nanyehi and Tsu-la Kingfisher.

The family will have a gathering to celebrate her life after the service at the home of Johnny and LaShawne Harrison.
