Linda Kay Nesbit Brown was born on July 1, 1942, in Dallas, TX, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 22, 2025. She was the daughter of Jack and Winnell Nesbit. Jack served courageously in World War II, earning a Purple Heart after being wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. Linda attended Mesquite High School where she lettered in basketball and graduated Salutatorian. She met the love of her life from Bryan Adams High School, and future husband, Larry G. Brown. As Larry headed off to Texas Tech to play football and major in business, Linda pursued her Degree in Education at the University of Texas, where she joined Chi Omega Sorority and lived at SRD. After college, they married and had two children, Jason and Jennifer. Jason married Cyndi Nix Brown and together they had twin boys, Layton and Parker Brown. Jennifer married the late Matt Sherlock of Syracuse, New York and together they had sons, Jacob and Luke Sherlock.
Linda taught for many years, bringing care and patience to her students. After earning a Special Education Degree later in life, she served with that same dedication in the Brownsboro School District for 10 years.
After raising their children in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas, she and Larry settled on their long-time acreage in Edom, TX. Soon after, they opened The Cotswolds Antique Store and acquired the famous Shed Cafe. Larry passed away in 2001, but Linda remained a constant and steady presence for her children and grandchildren – all college graduates now, stepping into their careers from California to Washington D.C.
Linda had a heart for serving others, teaching Bible studies in her neighborhood and Sunday School classes. While in memory care, she kept the same servant leadership and devotion by assisting her resident friends with their meals and daily needs. Her tender compassion and strength left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a Proverbs 31 woman.
