Linda Alice Brown (62) of Carrollton, Texas, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. We thank God that she is of “those who have fallen asleep in [Jesus]” (1 Thessalonians 4:14 NIV), who by grace through faith received “salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him” (1 Thessalonians 5:9b-10).
Our beloved sister was born in Longview, Texas, on February 11, 1959, to Texas-born parents, Eugene Cornelius Brown, Jr. of Waco and Mary New Brown of Clifton. Our mother chose her grandmother’s middle name, Alice, as Linda’s middle name. Our dad called Linda his “favorite youngest daughter”. Our granddad, Eugene Cornelius Brown, Sr., wrote to her eldest sister, Carol, on March 14, 1959, when our dad let them know that she “had believed and trusted and received our Lord Jesus as [her] own Savior” that “we are praying and looking forward to the glad time when Buddy & Martha & Linda Alice grow up to know and trust and love God and Jesus and obey the call of God’s Holy Spirit to accept Him”. We praise and thank God that He heard and answered their prayers.
Linda graduated from Mary Carroll High School, Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1978, received an Associate in Applied Science, Computer Programming, from Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1986, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from DeVry Institute of Technology, Irving, Texas, in 1993. She was in Who’s Who among students in American Junior Colleges, 1984-85.
Linda enjoyed quilting, upholstery, cross-stitch, painting, DIY projects, riding her bike, doing crossword puzzles, going places with her sisters, playing games with her nieces and nephews and going out to eat where her adopted Maltipoo, Cosmo, could accompany.
