Dr. Lillie Haynes-Nelson was born on May 10, 1950 to Ms. Frankie Haynes in Chicago, IL. Lillie was the fifth child of ten children. She was introduced to the Lord at an early age through Green Chapel AME Church in Houston, TX under Reverend Bundage.
Dr. Haynes graduated from Booker T. Washington High School of Houston, TX in 1969 with the highest of honors. Following her graduation, she met and married Carl Nelson in 1973 who preceded her in death. Prior to his passing, Lillie and Carl traveled all over the world. The couple parented daughter, Pisces, whom also preceded her in death.
In 1977, Dr. Haynes joined Dallas ISD. During the 1990's she began working at DISD Psychological and Social Services. As a licensed psychologist, she helped students while also supervising doctoral clinical interns. At the time of her passing, Dr. Haynes was a Mental Health Service Manager.
In May of 1995 Dr. Lillie Haynes graduated from Texas Women University with a Doctorate in Philosophy. She received her license to practice Psychology in the state of Texas in May of 1997 and a certificate of appreciation from Texas Psychological Association in 2019. Dr. Haynes is also served as a member of the National Education Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Inc. - Alpha Rho Chapter.
Dr. Haynes was the Project Manager for the anti-bullying effort “Breaking the Code of Silence.” She designed and implemented the programs “Healthy Teen Initiatives” and “Girls Wellness Day”. As a member of American Psychological Association, Texas Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists and American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist, she trained psychologists at local, state, and national conferences all while publishing two literary pieces. Her mentorship and training for so many Psychologists will be deeply missed. I think we can all say she was truly a woman of honor and great professional achievements.
